I’ve always loved cooking. It started when I was young, learning from my grandma in the kitchen. She taught me how to cook traditional Gujarati food, and those early memories will always be close to my heart. But 16 years ago, everything changed — so did the way I cook.

Yes, I’m 32 now, but better late than never! I began experimenting with new ingredients, trying out flavours from around the world, and spending hours in the kitchen just smelling herbs and spices — learning how they work together, trusting my instincts. And slowly, I mastered the flavours.

That’s how Rebel Spoon was born.

But this name means more to me than just cooking. It’s personal — a symbol of who I am and where I’ve come from. Growing up, I didn’t have the childhood I deserved. There were too many people telling my dad how I should live, what I could and couldn’t do. At 16, I decided I had enough of others dictating my life and being told ‘NO’ when I wanted to go to college — I said ‘I’M DONE BEING CONTROLLED’. I ran away. That moment changed everything. It was the beginning of my rebellion – but also a beautiful time as I found my Mum.

Since then, I’ve continued to break away from what was expected of me — including food. I started to cook not just what I was taught, but what felt right for me. I took the traditional, broke it apart, and rebuilt it into something I actually enjoy — something my family loves too.

This blog is my space to share that journey. To cook without rules. To experiment. To rebel, with flavour.

If you’ve had a tough path, or if you just love good food made with heart and imagination — you’re in the right place.

Any support means the world to me, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts after trying one of my recipes. Welcome to the table.
